Chore Chart

Creating a chore list at home is a child’s first job. These jobs can even lead to the start of an allowance to earn money by consistently completing your chore.

We all know chores take some time, some more than others. Parents can choose to add amounts of money to certain chores. Chores that take a long time, probably earn more money while chores that take less take would earn less money.

Here might be a progression of a chore.

  1. Taking your plate to the sink after meals. $
  2. Taking your plate to the sink, rinse your plate and put in the dish washer. $$
  3. Clear the whole table after mealtime and put in dishwasher. $$$
  4. Clear the whole table after mealtime, put in dishwasher and wipe down the table. $$$$

Create your own Chore Chart to be a team player for your family!

Here's How You Do It:

  1. Make a list of some things you can do each day to help
  2. Ask your mom and dad if you can set an allowance with your chore.
  3. Check them off daily when you complete the chore.
  4. After you can consistently complete the chore for 7 days, add an additional chore.

Remember, an allowance doesn’t always have to be money. It could be more time outside playing, an extra cartoon or even a new pack of crayons.

Good luck starting your first job! Once you commit to starting a chore it will help you build confidence and responsibility in your home. If you find yourself adding in new chores and not being able to follow through, go back to one chore so you can stay focused on your task.
